Barwon Water: Water Matters Stakeholder Engagement
Developing a Strategic Approach to Water Literacy and Stakeholder Management.
The problem
Barwon Water needed to engage key stakeholders to address urgent water security challenges, including El Niño conditions and the driest September on record. Their goal was to secure widespread support for the Water Matters campaign—an initiative to ensure a sustainable water future for the Barwon region, especially critical given increasing population pressures and climate change.
The solution
Hive developed a focused stakeholder engagement strategy, starting with personalised invitations to a series of stakeholder briefings hosted by Barwon Water’s Chair and Managing Director. These briefings aimed to share key data, emphasise the severity of water shortages, and rally community and industry leaders behind the Water Matters campaign.
To strengthen engagement, Hive designed a visually compelling presentation outlining the region’s water security outlook, the impact of climate change, and the campaign’s focus on water savings, smart usage, and transitioning to more resilient water sources. The clear messaging and data-driven insights helped stakeholders understand the urgency, leading to strong support for a collaborative approach to safeguarding the Barwon region’s water future.
