Hit the target with Tennis Australia, with their interactive game development

Hit the Target was an innovative, interactive competition offering instant prizes and the chance to play tennis with the world’s greatest players on centre court at Rod Laver Arena.

In the lead up to the 2015 Australian Open, Hive developed a unique web based experience that allowed users to launch a tennis ball from iconic landmarks around Melbourne towards a target in the middle of Rod Laver Arena to win instant prizes and the chance to play tennis with the worlds best.

The fully responsive online game was developed using the hive-hub. The unique user experience incorporated the latest HTML with old-school animated gifs and crafted video content to seamlessly deliver an engaging experience across all devices.

A unique technical challenge for the project was to deliver over 1,500 instant prizes online in a fair and secure manner. Hive developed an automated competition engine that provided Tennis Australia with visibility and control of prize distribution and competition management.

The statistics were impressive - recording over 36,000 players who played over 1 million times during the 5 week competition period.
